Ending human trafficking in Canada starts with expanding our collective understanding. A central part of the Centre’s mission is to conduct leading-edge research into this deeply complex problem. Human Trafficking Trends in Canada (2019-2024)

Calls to the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline reached an all-time high in 2024, with more than 5,100 calls received. Drawing on data from 2019–2024, this report highlights emerging national trends, including a sharp rise in labour trafficking and the continued prevalence of sex trafficking across Canada.

It Happens Here: Labour Exploitation Among Migrant Workers During the Pandemic

Based on focus groups with 77 migrant workers in Ontario, this report examines how precarious immigration status, unsafe conditions, and policy gaps during COVID-19 left workers vulnerable to labour exploitation in Canada.

This report examines how traffickers use transportation corridors within Canada to expand their operations and maintain control over victims and survivors. It highlights how frequent movement between cities compounds victims’ isolation and deepens their exploitation.
